The Pagosa Springs Community choir is in the final stages of preparing for the 2008 annual Christmas Concert. Conductor Larry Elginer, with the assistance of high school music director Dan Burch, has been rehearsing the choir since early September, and the program is coming to an exciting peak in quality and euphoria. Venita Burch makes the music sparkle with her special additions to the piano accompaniment and spontaneous interludes between selections.
The concert will open with the stirring selection “Shepherd’s Joy” and will close with Handel’s masterpiece, “The Hallelujah Chorus,” with an amazing variety of sacred and secular holiday music in between. Taking us to another level of music splendor the choir has added trumpets, French horns, hand bells, violins and flutes to enhance this magical concert series.
The concert dates are Dec. 5 and 6 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m.
The concert is free, a gift from the choir to our community. Bring your family and friends for this special concert series celebrating the Christmas season.
