The recently formed Archuleta County Citizens Recycling Advisory Council, a subcommittee of the Southwest Organization for Sustainability (SOS), would like to remind the community that National Recycle Day is Nov. 15.
Hundreds of events are being held across the nation to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and to encourage Americans to recycle, sign personal pledges to recycle, and to buy recycled products.
As a representative from the National Recycling Coalition stated, “Many people are already active recyclers and look for recycled products when they shop. But for recycling to really make a difference, we need to involve even more people. America Recycles Day is an opportunity for us to do just that. Recycling is a win-win situation, so we hope everybody will do their part.”
In conjunction with this, the council members remind folks that the City of Durango and the San Juan Basin Recycling Association are teaming up again for their E-Cycling event — Nov. 14-15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Durango Recycling Center (710 Tech Center Drive).
For a reasonable fee to help defray costs, they will collect and responsibly recycle your computer and other electronic equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.
