PSAC has received a matching grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation.
Local resident Dorothy Childers annually volunteers many hours helping staff the Pagosa Springs Arts Council. It is because of her efforts that Exxon has honored PSAC with a grant of $500.
Thank you, Dorothy, for all your hard work and thank you, Exxon, for recognizing this work and for rewarding the Arts Council.
PSAC seeks board members
We are currently seeking new board members and volunteers for the 2009 season, and you are invited to attend the next board meeting of the Pagosa Springs Arts Council. If you feel that you would like to become a member of this very valuable community service, please call our board president, Linda Echterhoff, at 946-3693.
The next board meeting will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 in the Arts and Crafts Room. at the community center.
“Into The Woods”
The Pagosa Springs Music Boosters’ holiday performances of “Into The Woods,” by Stephen Sondheim, will be a spectacular treat for the eyes and ears.
Performances are Nov. 20, 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium.
There will be a special matinee performance Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m.

Drawing with Randall Davis
The Saturday Drawing Class led by Randall Davis, originally scheduled for Nov. 15, has been cancelled. Randall will resume his drawing classes in January.
The PSAC Gallery in Town Park is now on its winter schedule. The gallery will be open noon-4 p.m. on Thursdays only.
Although the gallery will not be staffed on a regular basis, voice mail and e-mail will be checked regularly, so please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. The 2009 Pagosa Country Calendars are available for sale in the Town Park Gallery. The calendars sell for $8.95 plus tax to nonmembers and $7.95 plus tax to PSAC members. There are also quantity discounts: 10-24 for $6.95 each and 25-plus for $5.95 each. These calendars make ideal holiday and Christmas gifts.
Hospital art sponsors
The Pagosa Mountain Hospital Art Exhibit runs until Nov. 18.
We encourage sponsors and donors to come forward. Donations from $1 and up are welcome and there are donation envelopes as well as a drop box at the hospital’s front reception area for your convenience. Thank you for whatever amount you can donate in order to provide healing art for our hospital.
The Pagosa Springs Arts Council sponsors and manages workshops in the Arts and Crafts Room at the community center. From the outset, the Arts Council has been a partner and supporter of the center.
We started the workshops in 2002 and they have grown substantially since that time. Workshops provide those who want to teach a venue in which to do so and, at the same time, give our residents an opportunity to learn something new — watercolor, acrylic, oil, drawing, photography or the like. The space also provides a home for the Photo Club, Watercolor Club and a meeting location for various other clubs.

Plein Air Painters
We have made a decision to combine the Watercolor Club and the Plein Air Painters of Pagosa. The new group will be called Plein Air Painters and will meet the third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m.
Painters who work in any media are welcome. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share, tips, ideas and resources.
With that in mind, the next meeting of Plein Air Painters will be Thursday, Nov. 20. If the weather cooperates, we will meet at the west end of Echo Reservoir off U.S. 84, several miles south of Pagosa. This is a great spot, with views in all directions. Dress appropriately and bring a lunch. If the weather is bad we will meet at 10 a.m. at the community center in the Arts and Crafts Room. Please keep in mind that turpentine-based painting materials can not be used in the center.

The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month during the club year from September through May.
Interested photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. Any and all are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for single individuals and $30 for family membership.

Started in 1988 the Pagosa Springs Arts Council, a non-profit organization, was conceived and developed to, in part, promote the awareness of the vast array of local artistic talent, provide educational and cultural activities in the community, sponsor exhibits and workshops by local and regional artists, and encourage and support continued appreciation and preservation of the aesthetic beauty of Pagosa Springs.
