Marine Corps birthday celebration Saturday

Continental Congress, on Nov. 10, 1775, approved the creation of a new military force to be known as the Continental Marines.

From that humble beginning evolved today’s Marine Corps. The history of the Corps’ actions across the world speaks for itself. Pride, courage, discipline and loyalty are the backbone of every Marine. From boot camp, through their tours of duty and return to civilian life, they never forget the honor to be called a Marine.

Pagosa Springs Marines will celebrate their birthday at the Bear Creek Saloon on Saturday, Nov. 8, beginning at 1800 hours. Reservations are not required, but please call Robert Dobbins at 731-2482, so a crowd estimate can be made.

Happy birthday, Marines. Semper Fidelis.
