Co-op offers painting classes

Art classes have begun at the Pagosa Artisans’ Co-op.

It isn’t too late to join other students of the arts. These classes are for anyone who wants to paint in oils, watercolors or acrylics.

These painting classes are taught by Betty Slade who is a well-known local artist. Betty laughs when she asks her students, “Does anyone have any control issues? If so, you are in trouble.” Betty paints outside the lines and stretches her students to think outside the box. She shows them how to capture the essence of the painting with movement, life, rhythm and mystery. The classes are fun, even though Betty takes learning very serious.

Call the co-op at 264-2781 to sign up, or e-mail Betty at

The classes are held Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and cost is $25 a session. Students will need their own supplies.
