Controversial civilizations topic at Lifelong Learning lecture

Escape for an hour, at least in your mind, to the history, beauty and mystery of several ancient civilizations that continue to draw study by researchers, as well as ongoing controversy.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, the Pagosa Springs Lifelong Learning lecture series will host journalist, biographer and professional associate from Fort Lewis College, Judith Reynolds, who will present “Lost Cities: Petra, Machu Picchu, and Mesa Verde.” (She’s withholding the name of a fourth city to keep your interest peaked.)

Judith has visited each of these sites within the last few years and will discuss current ideas surrounding each.

Then, if you’re the type who plans ahead, mark your calendar for Oct. 18, when the Lifelong Learning series will cover “China: How Does China’s Emerging Economic Power Impact the World Economy?”

Keep your mind agile and your life interesting. All are invited to attend these free lectures at the Sisson Library, located at the corner of U.S 160 and South 8th Street. Starting time is 3 p.m., sharp.
