Staff Sgt. Steven Denny

Staff Sgt. Steven Denny recently graduated the Air Force’s S.E.R.E. instructors’ training program. At the formal graduation, Denny was given the special award as distinguished graduate. S.E.R.E. stands for survive, evade, resist and escape. All military personnel who fly on a plane must attend class on these skills; Denny’s new job will be teaching this.
During his first six years in the Air Force, Denny did a tour in Iraq and spent three years in Japan. He has just re-signed for another six years and is now teaching in Spokane, Wash., where he lives with his wife, Beth, and their son, Kehan.
During his training, a film crew followed the group of 80 men and one woman while they learned and survived for nine months. A mini series titled “Survival School” will run on the MOJO cable channel this summer.
Denny is a graduate of Pagosa Springs High School, and his parents, Randall and Judy Denny, live in Arboles.
