Liz Parker

Liz Parker, on May 18, 2008, at her graduation ceremony from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Liz graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a bachelor’s of science degree in child and youth advocacy.  Liz is currently employed at Pagosa Springs High School as an Instructional Specialist in Social Responsibility and will be an aide in the fall in the newly developed Pirate Achievement Center.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Benjamin C. Sickbert

Air Force Staff Sgt. Benjamin C. Sickbert has been named a nominee for the Air Force Space Command’s Outstanding Airmen of the Year.
Selection was based on the individual’s exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement, specific achievements, notable accomplishments, and community service and support.
He is the son of Bryon W. and Mary Sickbert, of Pagosa Springs.
Sickbert is a network operations technician assigned to the West Coast Communications Support Element, Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, Calif. He has five years of military service.
Prior to his current assignment, he was assigned to the 91st Intelligence Squadron, Fort George G. Meade, Laurel, Md.
His military awards include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

Evan Arthur Davies

West, Mellane and Katriel Davies are proud to announce the birth of Evan Arthur Davies in Durango, Colo., at 5:23 a.m., Sunday, May 25, 2008. Evan was born one month early, but came to us very healthy at 6 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long.


The Colorado Water Official’s Association Division 7 chapter has announced that Garrett Campbell, a 2008 graduate of Pagosa Springs High School, is a co-recipient of the 2008 Daries C. “Chuck” Lile scholarship.

Campbell plans to major in biology and exercise science at Fort Lewis College. At Pagosa Springs High School, he was active on the football, wrestling and track teams, and a volunteer on the student council.

The Daries C. “Chuck” Lile scholarship is sponsored by the Colorado Water Officials Association Division 7 Chapter in memory of “Chuck” Lile, a past Division Engineer for the Colorado Division of Water Resources. Recipients of the scholarship must reside in the San Juan/Animas/Dolores River drainages with intent to pursue an education in water resources, environmental sciences, civil engineering or agricultural studies.


Jenna Finney of Pagosa Springs is listed on the 2008 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Portland.

Finney is a senior and majoring in Spanish.

Students need at least a 3.5 grade point average to make the dean’s list.
