Commissioners deny bids for vacant land

In a split vote during its regular meeting on Sept. 17, the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) approved a motion to reject all bids received for 11 pieces of property being auctioned off by the county, with commissioners Warren Brown and Ronnie Maez in favor of the motion and commissioner Veronica Medina opposed.

Upper San Juan Watershed Enhancement Partnership announces Pagosa Gateway River Project presentation

The Upper San Juan Watershed Enhancement Partnership (WEP) is inviting the public to attend a presentation and Q-and-A of the 60 percent designs of the Pagosa Gateway River Project on Oct. 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center. 

PCC Southwest to offer wildland fire academy

Pueblo Community College (PCC) Southwest will offer a one-week wildland fire academy in October. The academy will be held Oct. 7-11 at the PCC Southwest Mancos campus, 33057 U.S.160. It is open to anyone 18 or older. There is a limit of 20 students. The deadline to register is Oct. 4.

Advisory committee looking at allowing local marijuana businesses to sell more product outside county limits

The Archuleta County Marijuana Update Citizens Advisory Committee held a meeting on Sept. 19 at which the committee began briefly discussing the possibility of amending the county’s marijuana ordinance to allow for licensed marijuana growers to sell more of their product outside of Archuleta County.

Patricia Gail Miller, known as Patty Lynn to a majority of people she came across, was born Jan. 31, 1960, in Pagosa Springs and adopted to parents Billy and Helen Lynn. She passed away in her sleep after her battle with Alzheimer’s disease and liver cirrhosis on Sept. 1, 2024, just before 1 p.m.
