Friends of the Theater planning busy summer season

Posted

It has now been more than 10 years since we held our first Friends of the Thingamajig Theatre events.

It has been a fun ride as we have had the opportunity to be involved with our live professional theater and the rotating group of actors, directors and support staff. The constant has been all of our love of theater and the intimacy of the stories on stage that inspire us.

Our response to theater is personal, but it flourishes as a shared experience. Many of us have developed a strong bond with the theater, so whatever we can do to sustain and nourish our theater is vital to us. We would love to have you join as a member.

In addition to a splendid lineup of live shows for the summer season, the Friends have a jam-packed summer season of events. There are three Tech Tuesday events where members can sign up to provide food for the actors and crew, get to meet the summer cast and support staff, and share dinner with them. The dates are May 28, June 4 and June 25 at 5 p.m.

If you are a Friends member, be sure to block off the weekend beginning July 20 for three Friends events.

On July 20, we will have our popular “Behind the Scenes” event. The topic will be “The Business of Theater” presented by the theater owners Laura and Tim Moore. On July 21, we will have a music-themed laser show with the actors. Finally, on July 22, we will have our traditional Williams Lake picnic.

On Aug. 18, we will have the Friends’ exclusive cabaret show where the actors perform their favorite songs.

Finally, to wrap up the season, we will have the Farewell Party at Paradise Ranch on Aug. 26.

As usual, the Friends will once again be sponsoring the season theater jackets for the actors and crew. These jackets are worn by actors and crew and end up all over the world, promoting our theater to other actors and potential future patrons.

If you are interested in theater and want to become more educated and involved, then becoming a Friends member is the ideal way to do this. It is a fun and rewarding experience.

Annual membership is $35 per person. Go to pagosacenter.org and look under the tab “become a Friend of the Theater” and follow the prompts. The other option is to send a check to: Thingamajig Theater Company, 2313 Eagle Drive, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.

Make the check out to Thingamajig Theatre Company and mark the check “Friends membership”. Please include your mailing address, email and phone number. The membership will be good through May 2025.
