Are you looking to improve your health? How about taking up a hobby that gets you outside? Would you like to help those in need of food assistance have more to eat? Or, maybe you would like to lower your household grocery costs and eat healthier.
The Archuleta Food Summit can satisfy your hunger for all of these desires on Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Pagosa Springs High School.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear and learn from local growers and ranchers about their businesses and agricultural practices. You can hear about the successes of local food entrepreneurs and how easy it can be to grow food in our county.
Other sessions will include groups of experts who will provide further information about regulations and policy issues related to water and land use; local food businesses sourcing from local farms; and the future of recycling, composting, waste reduction and resource recovery. This last session includes representatives from town, county and state governments.
A farm-to-table lunch will be served following the breakout sessions and attendees can participate in a networking with fellow attendees.
An optional Pagosa Springs High School grow dome and compost tour will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The morning breakout sessions will be available in English and Spanish and facilitated by some well-known community members: Mary Jo Coulehan, Warren Brown, Veronica Medina and Laurie Gutierez. There will be prizes and giveaways.
So, whether you are hungry for local foods, eager to garden, longing to give back to the community or passionate about our waste management crisis, the Archuleta Food Summit is where you need to be on May 11. We can’t imagine why you would be anywhere else, so we will see you then.
